Dan Holowachuk began studying drumming at an early age while living in Grimsby, Ontario. He graduated from Mohawk College in 1991 with a diploma in Applied Music, after which he continued his studies with several distinguished musicians such as Michel Lambert and Jim Blackley.

Since moving to Toronto in 1994, Dan has recorded and performed with such groups as the Tim Hamel Quartet, Uncle Violet, and the Nina Williams Band. He toured Canada with the experimental group Dinner is Ruined, spent a summer in the United Arab Emirates performing with the Johnny Scott Quartet, and worked steadily with several Latin-jazz groups while living in New Mexico.

Whether he's playing jazz, pop, afro-Cuban, funk, or Brazilian music, Dan lends his diverse influences and unique style of drumming to any musical situation.
